WTI and Maastricht agree to deepen their academic cooperation

The Institute for Globalization and International Regulation (IGIR) at the Maastricht University Law Faculty and the World Trade Institute (WTI) of the University of Bern are pleased to announce the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) committing them to a number of exciting joint academic cooperation initiatives.

The MoU foresees the launch of the “IGIR-WTI Brussels Dialogue on Global Economic Governance”, a joint seminar series to be held on a regular basis on the premises of the Brussels campus of Maastricht University. Open beyond academic circles to representatives from governments, regional and international organizations, business and other civil society organizations, the Dialogue will tackle many of the most pressing challenges in international economic governance and explore the contribution that cutting-edge academic research can make to informed policy-making.

The MoU further aims to facilitate the reciprocal exchange of doctoral researchers between the partner institutions. IGIR candidates will thus take advantage of the research infrastructure of the newly established WTI Graduate School on Economic Globalization and Integration. The two partners aim to collaborate on a range of other fronts, including in the design and implementation of joint research projects funded at the Swiss, EU and global levels, the staging of specialized conferences, and the mobility of skilled researchers.
