Victor do Prado is currently the Director of the Council and Trade Negotiations Committee Division in the WTO. As such, he oversees the organisation of the WTO General Council, TNC and Dispute Settlement Body meetings and advises the respective Chairpersons. He is also responsible for the organisation of the WTO Ministerial Conferences. This position allows him to have an overview of all WTO substantive activities, both in the negotiating and non-negotiating areas.

Mr. do Prado previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Cabinet of Director-General Pascal Lamy (2005-2012) and as a Counsellor in the WTO Rules Division, as Secretary of the Subsidies Committee. He was posted to the Brazilian Mission in Geneva (1993-1997), and served as Economic Assistant to the Foreign Minister of Brazil (1997-2000) and in the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin (2001-2002).  He was Chairman of the WTO Committee on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (1996) and served as panelist in several WTO dispute settlement procedures.  Mr. do Prado has a degree in Law from the University of São Paulo and an M.A. in International Relations from the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy (Rio Branco Award, First of Class).
