Christine Kreis joined the WTI in November 2012 as a Communications Officer and English Language Advisor. She was responsible for evaluating and improving website content and navigation. Highlights of the role included establishing an e-newsletter, initiating a monthly alumni column and launching the doctoral programme online.

In her current position, Christine oversees the communications and knowledge transfer strategy for the WTI and the NCCR. She plays an intermediary role between the Institute and the academic community, with the aim of strengthening scientific partnerships with research scientists and the broader scientific network. Christine is a liaison between the NCCR and the Swiss National Science Foundation regarding research projects and key events. She is responsible for programme marketing, media relations, event planning, campaign development, university relations and fundraising.

Christine joined the WTI from the power generation industry, where she built up and managed the communications for several thermal power businesses. Prior to her experience in the energy field, Christine worked as a consultant at several public relations agencies in both Switzerland and Canada, where she acted as an advisor to senior management on communications matters.


A Canadian and Swiss national, Christine grew up speaking English and German. She has a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of British Columbia, a post-graduate certificate in public relations from Humber College in Toronto and a Master of Science degree in culture and society (cultural and media studies) from the London School of Economics.
