Santanu Mukherjee is Senior Attorney & IP-Competition Lead based at Qualcomm’s New Delhi office. As part of Qualcomm’s International Government Affairs team, he is responsible for legal policy and regulatory issues with focus on Intellectual Property (IP), Competition practice in India, South Asia and emerging countries. Before joining Qualcomm, he practiced law at the Calcutta High Court and worked with leading law firms. He interned at the IPR and Competition Division at the WTO and also worked as consultant on IP and Trade Policy issues including at the South Centre in Geneva, Switzerland.


Santanu holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Calcutta University, India and a Masters in International Law and Economics (M.I.L.E.) from the World Trade Institute, Bern, Switzerland. He had been a British Chevening Scholar studying Corporate and Commercial Law in York, UK, had researched at the Max Planck Institute for IP and Competition Law, Munich and had twice been Fellow of the Global Salzburg Seminar, Austria. He has published articles on IP in international journals and speaks regularly at national and international forums.


He chairs the WTO National Council of The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, the Competition Law Section of the Indian National Bar Association and the Capacity Building sub-committee of IP Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. He is also member of the International Bar Association and International Law Association.
